So who is this Whitney girl anyway?

Hi, my name is Whitney and I own The Daily Collective! You may know me personally, or maybe you feel like you know me because you follow along with me and my business on social media. You get to see the raw, goofy me on Instagram, so be sure to check it out. ;)

Over the year and a half that I have been running this business, I have had lots of goals/ambitions of doing more creative writing through this blog, my email list, social media, etc. However, life often takes over and I find it hard to sit down and write. Well, it's 2023. No more excuses, amirite?

Let's kick this blog thing off again, and start with an introduction to me. It doesn't really seem fair for me to be running a business that is so personal to me without giving a really good introduction to who I am and how I got here. So here goes!

I was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD. If you are unfamiliar with South Dakota or its geographical location, it is located in the north central region of the US where the weather ranges from 100+ degrees with lots of humidity in the summer months to -50 degrees and super dry air and lots of wind in the summer months. Why do I live here, you ask? Well I didn't really choose to be born here, but I stay because I think humans were created to go through changes of seasons. The brutal times make the coming season so much more exciting and worth it. And this place is just home!

Some of my most favorite titles include wife, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, dog mom, mom-to-be, architect, and entrepreneur. The people in my life are so important to me, and I could not do most of the things that I do without every single one of them.

My husband is my high school sweetheart and greatest supporter in all things that I do! We started dating at the end of our freshman year of high school at just 15 years old. We did long distance through college - I went to South Dakota State University and studies Interior Design, and he got recruited to play golf at University of Arizona and studies Business Finance.

After a challenging, but rewarding 3.5 years apart, we got married and decided to move out of state together with our dog to continue our schooling. We moved to Minneapolis, MN so I could pursue my Master of Architecture degree from University of Minnesota while he studied law at University of St. Thomas.

After school we moved back home to Sioux Falls, SD to be closer to family and friends and start our careers. Fast forward to now, we have a house, a dog, jobs, and a baby on the way!

After completing graduate school and before starting my full-time job, I had some time to kill, so I did what I love to do and just started making things. Anything! T-shirts, sweatshirts, keychains, paper goods, and more. And thus, born was The Daily Collective. I have a true passion for creating and knew I had to take this passion to a space where I could share it with the world.

I now work full-time as an architect and run this businesses part-time out of my home. My goal for this business from the beginning has been to provide unique hand-crafted and quality sourced goods that are essential to everyday needs. With a baby on the way, I have naturally started to shift my focus and the focus of this business to products geared towards mamas and their minis, while still focusing on products for the every day. Small spoiler alert! ;)

Aside from working, I thoroughly enjoy being a homebody with the occasional outing with friends and family! I also love being outdoors with my husband and dog. We enjoy biking, hiking, snow skiing, golfing, taking our dog for walks in the park, and so much more. We even recently took up camping, and although we aren't pros at it yet, we learn something new every time we go! Check out our new vintage camper that we purchased and are currently remodeling.

I could probably go on and on about me and all the things I'm doing, but I think that's enough for now! Thank you for being part of my corner of the world where I can express myself through the things I create and share them with all of you. You help make it all possible!

xo, Whitney
